The Hest Gallery

Local artist Bob Hest was searching for ways to parlay his vivid paintings into new artforms when he met Farzan Navab, co-owner of Navab Brothers and American Rug Laundry. Navab, himself a graduate of the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, had a suggestion: Why not translate the art into handwoven rugs? It seemed to be a good fit and Navab commissioned weavers in India to make the translations real. The results were quite successful and can now be seen hanging in a small collection in the showroom at American Rug. Dogs, horses, foxes and even a ballerina are among the 10+ Hest works that have been adapted and are on sale now for a limited time. “Hest Gallery” hours are 8 to 5, M-F and 8 to 1 on Saturdays.
